Obituary

Lance Meredith Kopplin, 64, Piedmont, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at his residence in Piedmont.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m Monday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Rev. Mr. Ray Klein officiating. Inurnment will be at the Tulare Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established.

Lance was born November 16, 1946 at Huron, SD, to Lester and Lu (Boslaugh) Kopplin. He attended school through the 6th grade in Tulare and graduated from Miller High School. After graduation he joined the US Navy and served his country honorably overseas. After returning home he attended a school in Sioux Falls for computers.

Lance lived in Omaha for thirty years working with computers and employed by Northwestern Bell and its successors. After retiring he moved to the Black Hills near Piedmont and continued to work with computers for IBM until the time of his death.

Lance took full advantage of the Black Hills. He enjoyed 4 wheeling, looking at the stars and astronomy, pool leagues, golf, hiking, reading and history.

Survivors include his step mother, Harriet Kopplin, Miller, SD; brothers, Scott (Holly) Kopplin, Piedmont, Rod (Lori) Brandhagen, Lynn (Candy) Brandhagen, all of Rapid City; sister, Rhonda (Robert) Westman, Los Angeles, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Larry.
