Timm
September 5, 1958 – May 31, 2010
Lance W. Timm, 51, Newell, died Monday, May 31, 2010, in Newell.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 28, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Tom Martin officiating.
Lance was born September 5, 1958, in Deadwood, SD, to William James "Bud" and Juanita "Johney" (Reiche) Timm. He grew up on a ranch 18 miles east of Newell and attended school in Newell. Lance worked on drilling rigs for several years. He received his G.E.D. and then attended trade school in mechanics. Lance worked for a short time on his family's farm before moving to California where he married Mary Thomas in 1982. To this union, two children were born: Hayden and Trenton.
Lance was a very musical person. He loved to listen to music and play guitar. He played until arthritis forced him to quit the instrument which he loved so dearly. Lance worked as a diesel mechanic and later returned to Newell where he worked in construction. He met Denise Henderson and they became life partners. Lance and Denise moved to Rapid City where he worked as a diesel mechanic until he lost his battle with arthritis and it disabled him completely. He moved to Newell 8 months ago.
He is survived by two sons, Hayden Timm, Los Angeles, CA, and Trenton Timm, Humboldt County, CA; his mother, Juanita Timm, Newell; his first wife, Mary E. Timm, Los Angeles, CA; his life partner's daughters, Nicole Rolando and Tresta Henderson, both of Denver, CO; two brothers, Casey (Debbie) Timm, Vale, SD, and Gary Timm, Newell, SD; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father and his life partner, Denise Henderson.
A memorial has been established to help with travel expenses for his two boys, and the remainder will go towards the Lance W. Timm music scholarship.
