Obituary

Larry was born September 30, 1946, to Leslie "Bud" and Bessie (Crowser) Flack in Rapid City, SD, and was raised in Sturgis, SD.
He met Shirley Bekken and they were married on June 13, 1965. To this marriage, four children were born, three boys and one girl. They resided in Sturgis for several years before moving to Miles City, MT, where they acquired many new friends. While living in Miles City he bought and sold lumber for a few years before he began working construction. He worked construction all over Montana, taking his family with him providing many wonderful memories and great experiences for the family while fishing, hunting, and exploring.
After many years of construction, he went to work in Colstrip, MT, as a second foreman while the family stayed in Miles City. Later in life, the family moved to Billings where Larry worked for Kuck Trucking for several years. When his parents passed away in 1989, the family moved back to Sturgis on the family ranch. While running the ranch, he also had an independent trucking company with his son Lonny, driving many miles over the road while Shirley dispatched. If you needed to know any mile marker, land mark or directions, he could tell you. After two serious accidents, he retired from driving. Later on, they moved to Whitewood for a few years, then to Rapid City to be closer to the children.
Larry had a variety of passions. He enjoyed bull riding in his younger days, bowling, hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He became an avid bowler and carried a Professional Bowlers Card; he even captured a few 300's along the way. He could hold a conversation with anyone he crossed paths with and played cribbage with the best of them.
Larry James Flack, 73, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2020, at his home after a long, hard-fought health battle.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Lonny of Gillette, WY, Layne of Las Vegas, NV, and Shawn (Tina) of Rapid City, SD; daughter, Shelly (Amanda) of Rapid City, SD; 5 grandchildren, Halie, Kayla, Cody, Brendan, and Bryce Flack: brothers-in-law, Russell Bekken and Faye Mutchler; several nieces, nephews; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Bessie Flack; sister, Dixie Flack; parents-in-law, Elmer and Lydia Bekken; sister-in-law, Gladys Mutchler; and nephew, Lynn Albertson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.
