Larry Gene Hovis was born in Olathe, Colorado on March 28, 1947, to Eddy and Effie (Barrett) Hovis. He died peacefully in his home on July 24, 2022.

Larry married Mary Schmalz in 1971 and they went on to have four children, 18 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was one of the kindest souls on the planet, he was a man who knew no stranger. He loved his wife and children very much, but his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He taught us the importance of family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Kelly (Jolene) and Eddy; daughters, Kristen (Nate) and Ashley (Jeff); grandchildren, Jesse (Lexie), Josh (Kayla), Dena (Chris), Noah (Baylee), Cody, Kyle, Noah, Teyara, Zoey, Colton, Jericho, Lucas, Jarrett, and Jonathan; great grandchildren, Hayden, Ryah, TJ, Ryker, and Iloh.

Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Hovis; and his parents, Eddy and Effie Hovis.

Dad, you are at peace, but you'll live on in our hearts. We love you so much.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Colorado. Dinner will be served at 3:00 pm.
