Larry Wanhanen, 78, of Rapid City, South Dakota died April 26, 2023, at Sunset Manor Avera, Irene, South Dakota. He was born November 19, 1944, in Deadwood, South Dakota to Waino Victor and Alice Charlotte (Leeling) Wanhanen.

Larry worked as a teacher and at a lumber mill. He was a long-time member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Rapid City, South Dakota where he was often the lay reader of the scripture lessons and enjoyed taking part in Bible studies.

He is survived by a sister, Janice Sissen of Sheridan, WY; brother, David Wanhanen of Whitewood, SD; and a nephew, Josh Fiedler.

Following the service, he will be inurned at St. Onge Cemetery, St. Onge, South Dakota.
