Laura Colomo, 97, of Los Angeles, CA, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Laura was born September 3, 1910, at Fillmore, CA, to Cayeteano and Natalia (Lopez) Munoz. She grew up in Fillmore where she married and raised 3 children. She moved to Los Angeles where she became a seamstress and made dresses for Hollywood actors. She was a seamstress Union representative. She became active in politics and worked with former California Governor Brown and Los Angeles Mayor Yorty.

Laura retired as a seamstress to stay home to be with her grandchildren. She continued to make dresses for special occasions. Laura moved to South Dakota in 2001 to be with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosie Colomo, Los Angeles, CA, and Gloria R. Martinez, Sturgis; one brother, John Munoz, Reno, NV; five grandchildren, Susan Ann Colomo, Michalle Shea Colomo, Sherri Trapani, Carmen Collins, and Angel Martinez; 12 great-grandchildren, Tony Martinez, Lauramarie Valenzuela, Marcello Moreno, Marcela Moreno, Steve De Coronado, Angel Martinez Jr., Austin Martinez, Dominique Martinez, Monique Martinez, Thomas Martinez, Christina Colomo, and Ricky Colomo; 16 great-great-grandchildren, Attila Martinez, Anthony Martinez, Trey Martinez, Alize Martinez, Spirit Collins, Skye Collins, Myeeha Moreno, Alexandria Valenzuela, Angel Valenzuela, Ramon Valenzuela, Desiree Colomo, Travis Trapani, Tyler Trapani, Kaleb Colomo, Braden Martinez, and Riley Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Colomo; grandsons, Michael Martinez, Danny Colomo, and Junior Colomo; granddaughter, Laura Diane Colomo; sisters, Beacjice Moreno, Rosie Munoz, Natatia Munoz, Pauline Marquez, Jennie Corrales, Claudia Munoz, and Frieda Sanaval; and brothers, Frank Munoz, Carlos Munoz, Juan Munoz, and Enamace Munoz.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in California at a later date.
