Laurel was born September 14, 1948, in Belle Fourche, SD, to Loran and Carley (Collins) Bartlett. She attended school in Sundance, WY, and later in Upton, WY, as well as the Little Missouri Schoolhouse near New Haven, WY. She graduated from Hulett High School in 1966. Laurel lived on various ranches during her school years, where she helped her mother and brothers with chores as well as milking the cows before school.

On August 6, 1966, she was married to John Jackovich in Gillette, WY. The couple moved to Lead, SD, then to Saint Onge, SD, in 1971 where they lived to the present time. Laurel loved children and being a housewife, having four children of her own. Some of her passions included flower and vegetable gardening, canning, and picking berries. She also loved making quilts and shared them with many friends and family. In 1980, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Laurel enjoyed sharing the Bible's message of hope for a bright, peaceful future. She truly was the capable wife mentioned in the Bible Book of Proverbs. It was a pleasure to know her and to be a part of her life.

Laurel Ann (Bartlett) Jackovich, 67, Saint Onge, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at her home in Saint Onge.

Laurel is survived by her husband, John Jackovich, Saint Onge; son, Michael (Lucinda) Jackovich, Danville, IL; daughter, Denise (Scott) Elmore, Ekalaka, MT; son, Robert (Carrie) Jackovich, Spearfish; two grandsons, Clayton Elmore and Elliot Jackovich; and two brothers, Lonnie (Bonnie) Bartlett, Gillette, WY, and Lindy (Sandy) Bartlett, Alzada, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Mark Jackovich.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Belle Fourche, SD.
