STURGIS | Laurence A. "Larry" Grubl, 74, Sturgis, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Larry was born May 11, 1938, at Deadwood, SD, to Carl and Laura (Thein) Grubl. He was raised on the family ranch and attended Lower Alkali School and graduated from Sturgis High School. He worked as an electrician in Sturgis and on the construction of the Titan silo before returning to the ranch full time.
On November 27, 1959, he married Jerilyn Celina Erickson at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Bear Butte Valley.
Larry enjoyed dancing and Kareoake. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge in Rapid City. He enjoyed rodeoing in his younger years.
Survivors include his son James (Joanne) Grubl, Loveland, CO; daughters, Dottie (Mike) Kruthoff, Rapid City, SD, Wanda Grubl, Sturgis; sisters, Margery (Howard) Haberman, Mesa, AZ, Betty Wells, Sturgis; also two grandchildren, Jessica Celina Frey and Zachary Kruthoff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeri, one grandson, A.J. Frey.
Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. today at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A rosary service will begin at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial follows at the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
