Leila M. Piekkola, 79, Billings, Mont., and formerly of Newell, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in Billings.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sean Carney officiating. Burial followed at the Bear Butte Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the Newell Fellowship Church.

Leila was born Aug. 8, 1926, at Newell, to Edward Walter and Clara (Byrd) Newell. She grew up and attended school in Newell.

She married Harley Piekkola Feb. 12, 1948, at Belle Fourche. She lived in Newell until 2003.

Leila was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebecca Lodge.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Dixie and Dennis Olson of Billings, and Harriet and Randy Evans of Enumclaw, Wash.; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
