Obituary

Leland Keith Brink was born August 24, 1938, in Sturgis to Murel and Doris (Dickson) Brink. Leland attended school in Union Center and graduated from Sturgis High School. He was married to Janet Symonds in Sturgis on February 21, 1959.

The couple followed construction for 2 years in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. They settled in Sturgis where he worked for Meade County doing road maintenance until 1970. They moved to Hulett, WY, where they spent the next 36 years. He drove truck for the sawmills and spent the last 17 years working for Crook County Road and Bridge.

Leland retired in 2005 because of his health. They moved to Belle Fourche in 2006.

Leland, 76, Belle Fourche, died Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade, after battling Progressive Super Nuclear Palsy (PSP) for eleven years.

Survivors include his wife, Janet, Belle Fourche; daughter, Debra, Belle Fourche; and son and daughter-in-law, Murel and Christie, Gillette, WY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bart Leland; a daughter, LaDonna Lynn; and two brothers, Johnnie and Wayne.

Graveside services were held Monday, December 15, 2014, at Black Hills National Cemetery with Pastor David Baer officiating.

A memorial will be established to the Progressive Super Nuclear Palsy Foundation.
