Leo Hagemann, 88, Sturgis, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.
Graveside services will be held Monday, March 24, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nemo Cemetery with Pastor Paul Howard officiating. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.
Leo was born April 16, 1925, at Luverne, MN, to Ernest and Bernadena (Bodenberg) Hagemann. He married Lucille Elizabeth Hawes on May 9, 1944, in Tyler, TX.
He served in the US Army during WWII in Ardennes, Belgium, and Rhineland in Europe. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Nemo, SD, in 1946, and was employed by the US Forest Service for 35 years. He retired in 1983 and moved to Sturgis.
Survivors include daughter, Cheryl (Kenneth) Schmidt of Colorado; son, Dan (Pam) of Wyoming; daughter, Jackie of Nebraska; son, Tim (Lorraine) of South Dakota; son, Jeff of Nebraska; son, Casey (Laura) of Georgia; son, Charles (Sandra) of South Dakota; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; four sisters; son, David Leo; and grandson, Chad Hagemann.
