Leona Margie Stapp, 96, Newell, died Monday January 12, 2015 at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday January 13, 2015 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday January 14, 2015 at the Christian Fellowship Church in Newell with Pastor Sean Carney officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Newell.

Leona was born March 20, 1918, in Wagner, SD to Nathan and Anna (Bechtold) Kade. She grew up and attended school in Sioux City, IA. On August 20, 1937, she married George "Blackie" Stapp in South Sioux City. In 1949 they moved to Belle Fourche, SD to farm and in 1952 they moved to Newell, SD. After her husband's death, Leona earned her GED from Western Dakota Vo-Tech in 1973 and went to work in a real estate office. Later she worked for the Butte County Water District as an office Manager from 1976 until her retirement in 1985. In 1984 Leona earned Rural Water District employee of the year.

Leona Loved to Golf and was a member of the Newell Golf Course. She also was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching her grandchildren play at ball games.

Leona is survived by her sons Harry (Merri) Stapp, Newell, and Tom (Darlene) Stapp, Newell, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Blackie, daughter, Cyndee Roberts, her parents, one brother Harold Kade and one sister Lila Rhymer.

A memorial has been established to the Christian Fellowship Church candle fund.
