Obituary

Leonard "Lenny" Leon Hotchkin gained his wings and went home with the Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Born on April 26, 1974, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Dennis and Janice Hotchkin, Lenny grew up alongside his siblings, Dennis, Crystal, and Tina. From childhood mischief to adult life, the four shared an unbreakable bond. Lenny spent his school years in South Dakota, graduating from Hoven High School in 1994, where he excelled as a passionate wrestler, track athlete, and football player.

Lenny lived his life in service to others, working for 3M in Aberdeen before becoming a dedicated EMT and firefighter. In 2007, his journey took him to Wyoming, where he spent 18 years making lifelong friends while working at the Spring Creek Coal Mine. He eventually moved to Black Hawk, South Dakota, to be near the family he cherished above all else. To know Lenny was to love him; he brought joy into every room with his booming voice, infectious humor, and an uncanny soft spot for "Ultra."

Above all, Lenny’s greatest joy was his family. His children, Cerie and Jade, were his entire world; his two adored step children, Leaha and Nicholas. A love that only multiplied when he became a proud "PaPa" to three grandchildren who completely stole his heart.

Lenny is survived by his mother, Janice (Pat) Joynt; his children, Cerie Hotchkin (Sonny Snyder) and Jade Hotchkin; his adored grandchildren, Harley, KarmaLynn, and Azayla; his brother, Dennis (Amy) Hotchkin; his sisters, Crystal and Tina Hotchkin; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Layton, Nathaniel, Azera, and Theo. He was preceded in death by his father Dennis V. Hotchkin.
