Leonard R. Jordan, 82, died peacefully Tuesday April, 3, 2012, at Ft. Meade VA Medical Center, SD.
Leonard was born May 31, 1929, at Hemingford, NE, to Mabel (Clifton) and Samuel Jordan.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 and bravely served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart, in addition to other military citations.
On August 2, 1952, he married Betty McCormick and spent 53 years together until her death in 2006. On March 12, 2009, he married Geraldine Volk.
In addition to his wife, Geraldine, his survivors include son, Lance (Vicki) of Ashland, NE; daughter, Roxanne (Don) Evans of New England, ND; grandchildren, Chad (Kasie) Evans of Council Grove, KS, Ryan (Haley) Evans of Scranton, ND, Nathaniel (Carlee) Jordan of Omaha, NE, Joshua (Kelly) Jordan of Omaha, NE, Victoria (Steven) Estep of Omaha, NE, and Lisa (Mike) Scott of White Lake, MI. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Karady Evans, Zander Evans, Mia Jordan, CeCe Jordan, Isla Jordan, Ashton Evans, Ella Scott, and Alexa Scott. Leonard is also survived by a sister-in-law, Eunice Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty; three brothers, Glenn, Ralph, and Russell; two sisters, Mabel Jespersen and Ruby Morriss; brothers-in-law, Elvin "Pat" Jespersen, Ed Morriss, and Robert O'Keefe; and sisters-in-law, Eva Jordan, Rosetta Jordan, and Darlene O'Keefe.
In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance, the Alzheimer's Association, or any organization of your choice.
Internment for Leonard and Betty will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance, with military honors for Leonard.
