Leonard Henry Rahe, 85, Sturgis, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be 5:30 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Mark Shutz officiating. Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard follows at 12:30 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the charity of ones choice.
Leonard was born April 22, 1927 at Mission, SD, to Henry and Erika (Peters) Rahe. He attended rural schools in the area.
Leonard married Eunice Rang on June 9, 1953. They had three sons; Michael, Douglas and Scott.
Leonard farmed with his father at Mission until 1964. They moved to Hot Springs where he worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center until his retirement.
Leonard and Eunice moved to Sturgis in 1992 where he resided until entering the Dorsett Care Center in Spearfish in June of 2011.
Survivors include his wife Eunice Rahe, Sturgis; sons, Michael (Mary) Rahe, Burt, IA, Scott (Robin) Rahe, Westchesterfield, NH; sister, Leora Wiedman, Valentine, NE; granddaughters, Jennifer Thompson, Melissa Ochsner; one great granddaughter Emma Thompson; also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and his son, Douglas.
