Leonard Richert was born on the family farm at Marion, SD. He worked on area farms until marrying Mary Jean Nelson on June 21, 1953.Then he worked at the implement in Freeman, SD and later on road constructuion. They moved to the Sturgis area in Jan of 1967. Leonard worked at Homestake mine until he retired in 1986.
He was survived by wife Mary Jean, two daughters Vicki (Hostetter) and Judy (Rose),son in laws Justin Hostetter and Michael Rose, gradsons Gary Hostetter and Ryan Rose, and one granddaughter Nichole Hostetter.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother, and grandsons.
