Leslie Anne
Bedney
Jul 8, 1954 — Nov 21, 2022
Sturgis
Les Bedney, an incredible woman who enriched the lives of those around her. She wished more than anything to be home in her final days; so, her husband, children and grandchildren brought her home to a place where she had always known love. Early in the morning on November 21 st surrounded by her friends and family her soul went on peacefully.
She was born on July 8 th of 1954 in Mankato, Minnesota to Lawrence and Louise Doyen. She enjoyed growing up on the family farm with her four siblings, Loretta, Neal, Orrien and Jennie. She excelled in all of her studies and after high school went on to Minnesota State University Mankato, where she graduated as a legal secretary. Shortly after graduating, while attending a wedding, she locked eyes with the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Matt Bedney. They were married on May 27, 1975, and have been for forty-seven years. Les took great pleasure in working hand in hand with her husband. They spent many of their early years driving team across the country in an over the road semi-truck. Using her education as a legal secretary and Matt's know how about cars they owned and operated two body shops, one of them being Generic Bodyshop in Pierre, South Dakota. She went above and beyond in all of her work.
Throughout their beautiful life together they had two children Marie and Eric. Their mother taught them many things in life like hard work, kindness, and how to cook a good meal, but the greatest gift she could ever give was herself. Of any job that Les had being a grandmother was her favorite. Her two, now grown and successful children provided her two grandchildren each, Shyanne age 19, Gabe age 13, Elizabeth age 4, and Robert 7 months. Alongside being a wonderful grandmother, she enjoyed many things. Her yard was always pristine with gorgeous flower beds, bountiful gardens, and an always freshly mowed lawn. Aside from getting her hands dirty in the yard or under a hood, she loved the wind in her hair. Riding motorcycle through the hills with her family was one of her many joys.
In her life she adored her husband, whom she had known for fifty years and her children who made her the happiest mother she could be. She beamed brighter than many stars in our night sky, shining our way. She will be missed dearly, but her love will always carry on.
Her heart seems far away, her light too far gone,
But here she resides deep in us greeting us at tomorrows dawn.
Once more our family hand in hand, her heart within us all,
We gather close our family grand, answering her call.
She tells us not to be sad, but bask in her joy,
Forevermore she'll walk with us until our hearts can join.
We may be saying goodbye for now, but at our lives end,
We will be reunited with her when we ourselves ascend.
