Obituary

Leslie James Justice was born May 25, 1946, in Belle Fourche, SD, to Santford and Maxine (Raber) Justice. He was the big brother and chief tormentor to siblings, Sandra and Jim.

Les grew up in the idealistic '50's in Belle Fourche, graduating from Belle Fourche High School with the class of 1964. In July of 1965, he was united in marriage to LynnDee Lyons. Together the couple raised their daughter, Lisa, making their home in Belle Fourche for 51 years. During this time, Les owned trucks and hauled bentonite for many years, but eventually fell into the family tradition of carpentry work.

He opened Dakota Lumber Company in the late 70's and later sold the business to the Bowman family. He was a very talented man and could do most anything he set his mind to.

Les enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping trips, and good times with family and friends. He especially enjoyed the annual "Old Friends Reunion" with six other couples. This was the 29th year - he missed the telling of tall tales this year.

In later years, Les could usually be found "tinkering" in his shop, listening to old time (really old) western music. He loved having his grandsons and son-in-law around working on their various projects. The only downside of working in Grandpa's shop was putting up with his old western music blaring in the background.

Les passed away at home on September 15, 2016, with his wife and daughter by his side.

Celebrating his life are his wife, LynnDee, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Terry Kudlock, sister, Sandi Wahlfeldt, and brother, Jim (Nita) Justice, all of Belle Fourche; one uncle, Delbert Justice, Ekalaka, MT; one aunt, Murva Justice, Woodburn, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Missing him are his three grandsons, Brandon and Vanessa, Colton and Coree, and Carter Kudlock; and his three great-granddaughters, Kaylor, Hadley, and Tierney Kudlock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche with Pastor Jean Helmer officiating.

A memorial has been established.
