IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lila Pearl
Rottenbucher
September 9, 1936 – February 17, 2023
Lila was born on September 9, 1936, to Harold and Luretta Richardson at Houghton, South Dakota. She passed away at the age of 86, at her home in Sturgis, SD, on February 17, 2023.
Lila Pearl Richardson was raised on a farm in Columbia, SD. She was the third of nine children and helped on the farm by watching her brothers and sisters while her dad and mom taught school.
Lila graduated from Columbia High School in 1954 and moved to Rapid City, SD, where she attended Green's Beauty School, graduating in 1956. While attending school she met Eugene Rottenbucher, and they were married on February 4, 1956.
She was employed at Bea's Beauty Shop in Sturgis, as well as being a homemaker and mother to seven children: Donna Baier, Jake (Murl) Rottenbucher, Debbie (Mark) Klabenes, Dixie Barnett, Sandy (Blaise) Frost, Jan (Sami) Rottenbucher, and Lu Ann (Marvin) Kellsy. Her children blessed her with 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Lila was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she chose to spend much of her time helping others. She volunteered at the Fort Meade clothing store, the Senior Citizen Center Thrift Store, and was also available to help with funeral lunches.
She was active in her children's and grandchildren's events – ranging from musical to sporting events. She was a chauffeur and cheerleader and loved to watch them play.
In her later years she enjoyed quilting and playing Bingo, and you could see her out walking the dogs around the neighborhood.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Jim and David; sisters, Minerva and Donna; grandson, Greg; and son-in-law, Wayne.
