"Lil" Weimer

Lilburn Claire Weimer went to be with our Heavenly Father Monday, May 21, 2007.
Lilburn was born in Boneita Springs to Burley and Clara C. (Waltemate) Weimer on Nov. 13, 1917. The family moved to Sturgis in 1933 where he graduated from Sturgis High School.
Lilburn married Jennie Brink on Aug. 3, 1940, in Sundance, Wyo. There were five children born to this union.
Although he spent time with the CCC's and also building dams, his lifetime career started at Lund's Bakery in Sturgis where he learned the baking trade. In 1949, Lilburn bought Eric's Bakery from Eric and Martha Kerttu. The business was later to be named Weimer's Bakery and Lunch. Lilburn retired in 1985, but remained active in daily operations for many more years.
Lilburn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for 73 years. He served on church counsel, was a member of Lutheran Brotherhood, and taught Sunday School.
Lilburn was a lifetime member of the Sturgis Lions Club, a member of the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department, Odd Fellows, Black Hills Four Wheelers, and the Meade County Senior Citizens.
Blessed to have shared his life are his three daughters, Sandra (Don) Kost, Gillette, Wyo., Janice Weimer, Sturgis, and Connie (Dennis) Fawcett, Ree Heights, S.D.; one son, Marc Weimer, Spearfish; one brother, Robert (Sharon)Weimer, Denver, Colo.; and son-in-law, Dick (Julie) Logue, Colorado Springs, Colo. Lilburn had 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lil was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jennie, one daughter, Cheryl Logue, one grandson, Jay Fawcett, three brothers, Frank, Bill, and Jimmy, and one sister, Beverly.
Memorials have been established to Meals on Wheels, Grace Lutheran Radio Broadcast, and the Lions Sight and Service.
Visitation will be at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.
A family prayer service will be held Thursday at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. The public is invited to attend.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.
