Lily M. Magstadt, 99, Buffalo, died Friday, June 23, 2006.

Committal services will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to the Grand River Lutheran Church in Buffalo.

Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis is in charge of arrangements.

Lily was born Feb. 17, 1907, at Hanlontown, Iowa, to George W. and Olina (Brunsvold) Escherich. In 1909 she moved with her parents to the Slim Buttes area of Harding County. She attended grade school in the Slim Buttes and attended high school at Sorum and Hettinger, N.D.

She taught school in both Harding and Perkins counties and later she went to a beautician school. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Rapid City for several years.

She met and married Reuben E. "Sike" Magstadt Nov. 13, 1940, at Butte, Neb.

They moved to Buffalo in 1947.

Lily was a member of the Grand River Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of the church circle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her nephew, Wayne Tracy, Belle Fourche.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, one sister, two nephews and one niece.
