Obituary

Linda Sue Hawley, 66, of Belle Fourche, SD, passed away November 1, 2015, at Spearfish Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.

Linda was born February 7, 1949, in Marysville, KS, to Francis and Rhevay (Harris) Stirrat. While still a baby, the family moved to Alliance, NE, then to Bridgeport, NE, and to Deadwood, SD, when Linda was 10. For a time, the family lived in Hot Springs before moving to Sturgis where Linda graduated from Sturgis High School in 1967.

Linda married Jerry Hawley on December 29, 1967, at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. While Jerry was serving the U.S. Army, they lived for a time in Ft. Meade, MD, and after his discharge in 1969, moved back to Sturgis.

Linda worked for F. L. Thorpe making Black Hills Gold Jewelry, at OEM Worldwide in the warehouse, and later at Pamida in Belle Fourche as a cashier.

Linda enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting and knitting, and had a big heart for animals, especially dogs. Above all, Linda loved her family. In her later years, after her health declined, she especially enjoyed keeping in touch with all her loved ones by facebook.

She will deeply missed and forever loved by her husband of almost 48 years, Jerry of Belle Fourche; sons, James and Mathew, both of Belle Fourche; brother, Ronald (Jo Ann) Stirrat, Renner, SD; sisters, Janice Nequette and Jeanie (Jerry) Wood, all of Sturgis; a grandson, Richard Moore of Vancouver, WA; brothers-in-law, Richard (Donna) Hawley and Roger (Connie) Hawley; and sister-in-law, Donna Sigman.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Michelle; and granddaughter, Jessica.

A memorial has been established.
