Mrs. Linda Sue (Clark) Johnston, age 53, of Spotsylvania, VA, passed away Sunday evening, December 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She fought a year-long battle against breast cancer.
Linda was born April 13, 1967, in Belle Fourche, SD, the daughter of the late Curtis and Betty (Raffelson) Clark, who resided in Sturgis.
Linda served in the South Dakota National Guard. She went on to be stationed at the Pentagon and survived the 9-11 terrorist attack. After her enlistment obligation ended, she was hired at Booz Allen Hamilton, in McClean, VA, as an executive assistant. Her career was marked throughout with many awards for superior performance. She was a member of Providence Bible Church in Culpeper, VA.
Linda is survived by her husband, Joseph Johnston of Spotsylvania, VA; one brother, Dana (Karla) Clark of Longmont, CO; and two sisters, Shari (Dave) Green of Lead, and Lori (Neil) Engle of Spearfish. She was the loving step-mother to Nicole (Austin) Sapp of Mukilteo, WA, and Philip (Ashley) Johnston of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Linda drew the most happiness from spending time with family. She loved all of her nephews and nieces unconditionally, along with her extended family. She leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held sometime in the spring at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Committal service will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
