Obituary

Lloyd Hollister, 90, long-time Madison resident died September 16, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden, SD. Visitation will be Monday, September 20, 2010 from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Hills National Cemetery.

Lloyd was born January 2, 1920 in rural Harding County, SD to Lloyd and Theresa (Johnson) Hollister. He graduated from Newell High School and Mitchell Business College, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946. He married Lucille Olinger on June 11, 1947 at Woonsocket, SD.

Lloyd spent his entire career working in management positions for rural electric cooperatives in North Dakota and South Dakota. He was awarded the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Management Achievement Award in 1966. He was active in many civic and church organizations.

Survivors include three sons, Dan (Kim) of Palm Harbor, FL, Jack (Sunny) of Allen, TX, and Greg (Jill) of Madison, SD; two grandsons; one step-grandson; a brother, Darrell (Ellen) of Huron, SD; and one sister in-law Vivian Hollister of Deadwood, SD.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, an infant son Richard, his parents, and four brothers, Ralph, Donald, Duane, and John.
