Lloyd Lawrence Stapert, 68, Timber Lake, SD, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the Ft. Meade VA Hospital.

Committal services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009, at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Chaplain Ralph Vencill officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to leaving for the cemetery.

Lloyd was born July 15, 1941, at Dupree, SD, to Bernard and Mabel (Blatner) Stapert. He attended country school and worked as a ranchhand. He joined the US Army in 1963 and served his country honorably until his discharge in 1966. He returned to South Dakota where he worked for ranches and was employed by the Dewey County Highway Department.

Survivors include his son, Larry Stapert, Timber Lake, SD; one brother, Dale Stapert, Philip, SD; and one sister, Bonnie Mitchell, Dupree, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter, one brother, and one sister.
