Obituary

Lois LaVerne Engel, 85, Rapid City, died Friday, October 10, 2008 at the West Hills Village Health Care Center in Rapid City.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Sean Carney officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.

Lois was born June 21, 1923, to George and Vera (Schnee) Lambert on her parents' homestead north of Hammond, Mt.

She graduated from Carter County High School and attended college in Billings. She graduated from Black Hills State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught school for 38 years.

Lois enjoyed crafts, china painting and making porcelain dolls, quilting, crocheting and sewing.

She married Lee F. Engel in 1947. He died in 1969.

Lois was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and United Church of Christ Congregational.

Survivors include one brother Norman Lambert, Broadus, MT; one sister Phillis Seaman, Spearfish, SD; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee, brothers, Everette Lambert, Bill Lambert, and Laurence D. Lambert.
