Lois Keffeler, 95, Sturgis, died Tuesday Feb. 28, 2006, at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center.
A memorial has been established.
Wake and Rosary services were at 7 p.m. Sunday, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday March 6, 2006, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial followed at the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Lois was born April 1, 1910 at Deadwood, to LeRoy and Myrtle (Groling) Forney. The family moved to Sturgis and later to Hereford where Lois grew up and attended school. She graduated from Sturgis High School and received her teaching certificate from Black Hills Normal (State University). She taught in several rural Meade County schools.
Lois married Leo Keffeler at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, at Bear Butte, on June 8, 1936.
They ranched on Alkali until Leo's death in 1970. She continued to live on the ranch until she moved to Sturgis in 1980.
Lois was active in the development of the Meade County Senior Citizens Center and the Sturgis Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Idle Hour Club, the Farm Bureau Women's Committee and 4-H.
Survivors include her sons, Keith Keffeler, Sturgis, Gary Keffeler, Lacon, Ill., David Keffeler, Los Alamos, N.M., and Bruce Keffeler, Casper, Wyo.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.
