Lois Mary Weston, 82, Reva, and formerly of Nemo, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Nemo Community Church in Nemo with Pastor Nick Rombough and Pastor Henry Mohagen officiating. Inurnment will be at the Nemo Cemetery.
Lois was born January 29, 1929, at Luverne, MN, to Charles and Lillian (Engelking) Leistico. She graduated from high school in 1947 at Worthington, MN. She met Gordon Weston at a drive in movie and the couple was married at Worthington, MN, on February 22, 1950.
She worked at various jobs but raising her five children was her priority. Her house was always a home. She started the "Lunch with Lois" club which still has active chapters in the Twin Cities and Rapid City.
In 1980, the family moved to Nemo where Lois worked as a Postmaster Reserve for the Nemo Post Office. She also worked as a Collegiate Life Underwriter for Prairie State Life and New England Insurance Company in Rapid City. She was also active as a Toastmistress and the Literacy Council of the Black Hills. She was known for her "Bunkhouse Blues" quilts in Nemo. Gordy and Lois enjoyed taking drives in the Black Hills.
Following Gordy's death in 2006, she moved to the Hanson Ranch in 2007 where she enjoyed reading, sewing, music, and her computer. She tried to talk the owners of the Reva Store into installing a car wash. Currently there is still no car wash in Reva.
Survivors include her son, Todd (Robin) Weston, Scandia, MN; daughters, Julie (Keith) Hanson, Reva, SD, Darcy Weston, St. Paul, MN, and Nancy (Mike) McKenzie, Hill City, MN; two brothers, Chuck Leistico, and Roger Leistico, both of Chicago, IL.
Survivors also include five grandchildren, Nicole (Bruce) Altenhofen, Jacklyn (Jeremiah) Panning, Todd (Briann) Weston Jr., MaryJo (Andy) Vickers, and Robert Dynda; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, Jim Weston.
A memorial has been established the Black Hills Literacy Council or South Dakota Public Broadcasting.
