Lola Jean (Richardson) Frederickson was born on October 5, 1938 in Rapid City, SD, to Irwin and Inga (Stalheim) Richardson. When Lola was 6 months old, she moved with her family to a ranch near Marcus, SD, where she grew up and attended grade school. She went to high school in Faith, SD and Rapid City, SD and business college in Billings, Montana. She became a legal secretary in Billings, where she met Richard Frederickson, and they were married in 1962. They made their home in Billings, Montana; Denver, Colorado where their daughter, Nancy, was born; Clearfield, Utah and then Dayton, Ohio. When Richard retired in 1992, they began spending their summers in South Dakota and returning to Dayton for the winter to spend time with their daughter, Nancy, and their grandchildren, Derek & Danielle. In 2011 due to poor health, they made their full-time home in Sturgis, SD. Lola passed away on Friday, July 18th in Sturgis, SD, following a long and courageous bout with cancer. She is survived by her husband Richard Frederickson, daughter Nancy Lapsins in Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren Derek and Danielle Lapsins, Dayton, Ohio; brother, Pete (Pat) Richardson, San Diego, CA; sister, Jesse (Charlie) Russell, Sturgis, SD, and sister, Lila (Clinton) Jones, Dowling, MI. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan; her father, Irwin Richardson and mother, Inga Richardson. A memorial in lieu of flowers may be sent to hospice of the Northern Hills. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
