Obituary

Lolita Newman, 86, went to her heavenly home on Dec. 6, 2007. She passed away at Dorsett Regional Senior Care in Spearfish.

Visitation at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of the Northern Hills in Deadwood with the Rev. Pat McBride officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Lolita was born May 1, 1921, in Cairo, Neb., to Lorin and Isabel (Grossert) Thompson.

She was married to William Newman on June 24, 1939, in Alliance, Neb. They ranched at Shadehill, S.D., and then Vale, before moving to Lead, in 1956. She retired from the Lead School System and enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and spending time in Texas during the winters for many years after her retirement.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, William Newman of Spearfish; one son, Jerry (Sandy) Newman of Rapid City; two daughters, Belinda (John) French of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Patricia (Bruce) Morgan of Boulder Canyon; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Lorine Green of Wilmington, Del.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.
