Lora was born March 23, 1932, in McIntosh, SD, to Charles and Beatrice (McGill) Green. At the age of 10, her family moved to Rapid City, SD, where they lived for two years. The family then moved to Custer. At the age of 18, Lora met the love of her life, Ken Montague, and they were married July 10, 1950. They made their first home in Belle Fourche until the fall of 1950 when they moved to Kansas, where their son, Dale, was born in November 1951, and daughter, Karla, in March 1956.
The family moved in 1958 to Hot Springs where they managed the Mavrick Truck Stop. In 1965, they moved to Colony, WY, where Lora worked as a bookkeeper for LP Larson and waited tables at the truck stop. They made their final home in Sturgis in 1967 where they have lived since. Ken and Lora managed the Skelly Truck Stop and Lora kept the books until 1972. In 1978, they purchased their first truck and started trucking coast to coast. This brought both of them much enjoyment and many adventures until they retired in 2006.
