Loretta C. Farnsworth, 90, Spearfish and formerly of Piedmont, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at the Dorsett Senior Care Center in Spearfish.
Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis and will resume one hour prior to the services at the church in Piedmont on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont with Pastor Howie Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Loretta was born September 11, 1917, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Fritz and Sophia (Andersen) Buchheim. She grew up in Minnesota and when she was 16 years old, the family moved to the Highmore, SD, area. Loretta operated a beauty shop in Highmore.
Loretta married Benjamin Farnsworth in Miller, SD, on August 26, 1946. The couple moved to Piedmont in 1946 where Loretta lived until recently moving to Spearfish.
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Eugene Farnsworth, Rapid City, Darrell (Juel) Farnsworth, Black Hawk, and Robert (Tonya) Farnsworth, Cheyenne, WY; one brother, Harold (Alice) Buchheim, Highmore, SD; one sister, Alice (Wayne) Sampson, Highmore, SD; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eleanor Jensen and Laverna Kutz; and two brothers, Wallace and Irving Buchheim.
A memorial has been established to the Piedmont Park Memorial.
