"No Bad Days," read the bumper sticker on the rear of Loretta Gardner's RV. Ms. Loretta Agnes Gardner died suddenly and too damn soon last week in Gillette, Wyoming. She was 72.

Loretta was born to the late Walter and Rose Michaels, October 30, 1940, in Bedford, Massachusetts. She graduated with the first graduating class from Bedford High School in 1958. She married Richard Gardner, of Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1960. They had two children together and later divorced.

Ms. Gardner developed a vibrant career in banking, starting as a teller with Lexington Trust and later retiring with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust. In between she spent her formidable years with Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio and American National Bank in Bakersfield, California. Loretta was best known for her warm and welcoming customer service. Many of her customers knew her by her first name and some had become lifelong friends.

Loretta entertained a long line of cats and men but it was a papillon named Rosie who stole her heart and brought much joy to her life. Together they travelled the country by motorhome in search of "a good spot" with grass and hookups. Loretta made friends wherever she stopped. She enjoyed fishing from the end of a pier whenever she was by the ocean, trashy romance novels, and toasting the end of each day with a glass of scotch. Her endearing optimism will be sorely missed by those closest to her.

Loretta is survived by her son, David Gardner, daughter, Debbie (Roger) Bruse, sisters, Rose Marie Hutchinson and Barbara Hamill, along with three adoring granddaughters, Maggie, Katie and Sophie. A family-only memorial service will be held at an undisclosed beach location per the deceased's wishes.
