Obituary

Lori was born June 1, 1960, in Chamberlain, SD, to Coleen (Hickey) Short and Glenn Harmon. She was the third of five children. The family moved to Fort Thompson, SD, when Lori was in second grade. As a teenager, she worked at a grocery store where she loved to socialize with the locals. Everyone enjoyed working with Lori; she was outgoing, fun and friendly. Lori was also an active member of FFA and loved playing basketball. She graduated in 1978 from Chamberlain High School.

After graduation Lori moved to Belle Fourche, SD, where she worked at the Colony Truck Stop. On September 8, 1979, she married David Eixenberger in Belle Fourche. During their first year of marriage they adopted their first daughter, Jennifer Lynn, in 1980. The family lived in Colony over the next 10 years where Lori ran the Colony Truck Stop and Diner. In April of 1987, Lori and Dave welcomed their second daughter, Fayleen Marie, to their family. After a few years, the family moved to Gillette, WY, where they welcomed their third child, Derek William, in 1991. Lori loved staying home with her kids when they were little. She taught Sunday school at St. Matthews, was a girl scout leader, coached basketball, and enjoyed watching her children play sports. Lori was also amazingly creative; she loved to paint and do crafts with her friends. After staying home with her kids for several years, Lori decided to return to the workforce. She began working at the Credit Bureau where she later became the manager.

Lori and Dave divorced and then in 1998, she married Mike Couch in Gillette. During their marriage, Lori decided to become a nail tech. She opened her salon, Illusions, in Gillette. Lori loved doing nails and running the salon. Everyone that came into the salon felt welcomed. She later started doing permanent make-up tattooing and piercings as well. Lori always had her hands busy with projects. When she wasn't working on her house laying flooring, tearing down walls, or repairing washers, she was helping others. Following Mike's death, Lori became very competitive in throwing horse shoes. She also loved spending time with her friends and working on projects around the house with her longtime friend, Conrad Schuhrke. In 2003, Lori married Anthony Koch in Gillette. After years of renting salon space, Lori and Conrad created a salon in her home. While doing nails for over 15 years Lori established a dedicated clientele list whom became some of her greatest friends.

Lori's greatest joys in life were her grandchildren. She had six grandkids that kept her on her toes. Lori took her grandkids whenever she could and she spoiled them rotten. They spent most of their time shopping and playing outside. Four years ago, Lori began the most courageous battle of her life. She was diagnosed with stage four laryngeal cancer. After six months of chemotherapy then radiation she was in remission. Lori went on vacation with her children and visited family with her sisters and mother. She spent a lot of time traveling visiting friends and family all over the country. Later the cancer returned; however, Lori's strong will to survive outshined and she started a new form of treatment. She was an inspiration to everyone that knew her. No matter how poorly she felt she always put on a strong face and trusted in God. During her treatments, despite being ill, she never faltered in her faith knowing that God had a special plan for her.

In her last few days, Lori was surrounded by family and friends; her home was always busy with people coming to spend time with her and support her. On December 12, 2016, at the age of 56, Lori left to be with her heavenly father, at her home surrounded by her family.God is good, All the time.

Lori is survived by her loving children: Fayleen (Joe) Prosenick and their children, Drew, Kirsten, Alivia, and Lila; Derek (Tylin) Eixenberger and their children, Dyson and Daven all of Gillette, WY; and Jennifer Meek of Puerto Rico; her mother, Coleen Short of Piedmont, SD; her siblings, Richard (Sabrina) Harmon of Newell, SD, Myra (Bruce) Fees of Rozet, WY, Tina Hayton and fiancé, Scott Hopkins of Murray, KY, and Rebecca (Robert) Boylan of Newell, SD; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
