IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorman E.
Lange
February 11, 1936 – January 8, 2021
Lorman E. Lange was born on February 11, 1936 and died January 8, 2021 at Monument Health Sturgis Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Lorman came west with his family in 1953, graduating from Newell High School the following year.
After school, Lorman worked various jobs, including driving gravel truck with good friend, Wally Miller, eventually working 31 years at Butte Electric Cooperative.
Lorman and Donna were married and settled in Newell, where they lovingly raised their three children, Clay, Kurt, and Kim. Lorman was active in the Newell community, serving on the Newell School Board, the First Lutheran Church Council, and spent hours working at the Newell Golf Course. Lorman also served for six years in the South Dakota Army National Guard.
Following retirement, Lorman and Donna moved to Sturgis. They enjoyed following their six grandchildren's sporting events including rodeo, baseball, football, basketball, cross county, and wrestling. Lorman was quite a sportsman himself, playing fast-pitch softball, and in his younger years he was a member of the Newell Boxing Club, winning the State Golden Gloves Boxing Championship in 1955. Lorman and Donna were happily married for 60 years. They enjoyed daily lunches or coffee with special friends.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Lange of Sturgis; two sons, Clay (Cindy) Lange and Kurt (Mary Anne) Lange, both of Sturgis; daughter, Kimberly (Lyle) Sprague of Nisland; six grandchildren, Brent (Annie) Lange of Minnetonka, MN, Tyson (Amanda) Lange of Rapid City, Seth (Jenny) Lange of St. Louis Park, MN, Megan Lange of Phoenix, AZ, Heath Sprague of Nisland, and Tessiah (Sam) Schneider of Sherman, SD; two great-granddaughters, Cannon and Sydney Lange, whom he called his "little sweeties"; and two brothers, Randy and Doug Lange, both of Belle Fourche.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Bernice Lange; two brothers, Leland and Bill Lange; and two sisters, Arda Morgan and Velda Jodozi.
