Lorraine Marilyn Roberts, 59, Rapid City, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Lorraine was born on November 14, 1954, to Earl and Marjorie (Halliday) Roberts in Manhattan, New York, and grew up in Brooklyn. She joined the Air Force on March 1, 1979, and served until May 24, 1983. She later earned her Master's Degree in social work and had been working for the Fort Meade VA Medical Center until her retirement in 2013.

It was the Air Force that brought her to South Dakota where she decided to make Rapid City her home.

She enjoyed martial arts and teaching artwork.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Alison (Ryan) Ficek, Sturgis, and Theresa (Dean) Plaggemeyer, Rapid City; and six grandchildren.
