Lorren was born in New Underwood, SD, on June 19, 1926, to Alvin and Maggie (Judson) Moreland. He grew up on a ranch near Red Owl, SD, and attended the Red Owl School and a school they held in their home.

Lorren worked on several ranches in the surrounding area including: Interior, SD, Montana, Wyoming, and for the New Moon Trailer Company in Rapid City. He also worked on the missile bases. His ambition all his life was to be a good cowboy. He also served in the US Army.

He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior and that became the most important thing in his life.

In 1950, he married Lorraine Moore and in 1957, a son, Lance, was born. Upon his fathers' death, they returned to the ranch to operate it. In 1977, Lorraine was killed in an automobile accident.

In 1990, he married Florence Hinesley. They continued to live at the ranch until December 2016 when they moved to Belle Fourche, SD.

Lorren Wright Moreland, 90, Belle Fourche and formerly of Red Owl, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his home.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; son, Lance (Connie) Moreland, Forsyth, MT; grandson, Billy (Roxanne) Moreland, Buffalo, WY; three step-children, Gary Hinesley, Cheyenne, WY, Ted (Gail) Hinesley, Bismark, ND, and Lorna (Allen) Duprel, Sturgis, SD; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Larissa; sister, Mary (Virgil) VanDeventer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; two sisters, Leona Shoun and Darlene Pummel; and one step-son, Dennis Hinesley.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, April 12, at the Central Meade County Community Center in Union Center, SD.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Central Meade County Community Center. Burial with military honors will be 2:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Memorials have been established to the Prairie Bible Church and Hospice of the Northern Hills.
