Louise A. Nedved, 97, of Spearfish and formerly of Rapid City, died on December 21, 2012 in Spearfish Regional Hospital. Her son, Joseph was with her at the time of her death.
Louise was born on August 29, 1915 in Portland, Oregon. She was the only child of Christina Dabritz and Andrew Sementelli, who were of Italian descent.
Louise married Dale O. Nedved in Miles City, Montana. After they were married, they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where they lived their entire married life. They were blessed with one child, Joseph C. Nedved.
Louise held various jobs throughout her life. She was a telephone operator when they had the old operator boards. She also worked at West Junior High in the cafeteria. Following retirement, Dale and Louise cleaned offices in the Rapid City area.
Louise was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and loved participating in many church activities. She volunteered at several nursing homes, as well as volunteering at different veteran organizations. Louise volunteered many times at the Ft. Meade facility. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Louise lived at the St. Martin facility with the Benedictine Sisters for 13 years. She enjoyed that time and also became an Oblate Sister. She was faithful in attending Mass and prayed the Rosary on a daily basis. She enjoyed meeting and visiting with all the Priests and Sisters who came to worship at the Chapel. Her faith was the most important aspect of her daily life.
Survivors include her son, Joseph C. (Glenda) Nedved, of Spearfish; three granddaughters, and 4 great-grandchildren. Louise and her granddaughter, Janna Nedved, were able to spend many hours together and had a very close and special relationship. Other survivors include her niece, Nancy (Bill) Shields and their three daughters and their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A rosary service will start at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Rapid City, SD. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Catholic Social Services' new Msgr. William O'Connell Center.
