Rapid City - Louisa DeLeon, 99 of Rapid City, was called home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2012, at Golden Living Center- Meadowbrook in Rapid City, SD. She was born March 8, 1913 in New Mexico to Esquipula and Leonor (Chavez) Gallegos. She attended school in Edgemont. On September 15, 1929 she married Santiago "Jim" DeLeon, they lived in Edgemont until 1941, when they moved to Provo, SD. She was the Postmaster at Provo from 1960 to 1975. She transferred to the Ft. Meade, Post Office in 1975. After 47 years of marriage, her husband, Jim passed away in 1977. She retired from the postal service in 1978. In 1979 she moved to Rapid City. She was active St. Therese' The Little Flower Church and Choir, Alter Society, RSVP, VFW Auxiliary in Rapid City, National Assn. Postmasters, Hospital Auxiliary Rapid City, Minneluzahan Sr. Citizens Center and the Rapid City Community Service Volunteer. She is survived by three sons, Patrick DeLeon, Rapid City, SD, Louis (Patty) DeLeon, Amherst, VA and Ted Deleon, Fairbanks, AK; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Virginia Wallace in 2011; two daughter in-laws, Nancy DeLeon in 2001 and Stella DeLeon in 2011; a son-in-law, Kyle Wallace in 2004; four sisters and four brothers. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Therese' The Little Flower Church, Rapid City,SD, with a Christian Wake Service to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13 at the Church with Father William Zandri presiding. Interment will take place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Sturgis.
