Obituary

Lucy was born the first of ten children to Roland & Theresa (Erhardt) Molitor in Lemmon, SD. Lucy graduated from Faith High School in 1956. She married Wayne Sundstrom the following autumn, on November 17, 1956, in Faith, SD. Over the next 15 years, Lucy and Wayne would make their home in Oregon, Wyoming, the Southern Black Hills, and finally settled in Sturgis. The couple had three children, their first child, a daughter, Dixie, and two sons, Darcy & Dane. Wayne passed away in 2000.

Both entrepreneurs and very dedicated workers, Lucy and Wayne created and operated many businesses in a variety of industries - a demolition/construction company, a rock quarry, a daycare, a bar, a handful of residential rentals, even a brief Indian taco stand, and Lucy's namesake - Lucy's Nearly New, a consignment shop that has been a staple of the Sturgis business community for over 30 years.

After retiring from the consignment shop, Lucy wasn't one to slow down. A helpful grandma and active volunteer, Lucy spent her days at on the go with family and friends. Lucy enjoyed traveling so much her family liked to joke she always had her bags packed. When she was at home, Lucy could read murder mysteries, cover to cover, in just a few late night sittings.
