Obituary

Lucille Homan, 94, Sturgis, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Lucille was born in Keya Paha County, NE, September 14, 1920. She graduated from Crawford High School in 1938. Lucille lived in various locations in Nebraska and held many jobs, including running a confectionary in Valentine for 22 years.

In 1961, she moved to Sturgis, SD, with her family where she remained until her death. She served as City Auditor for many years. Lucille was very active with the production of the annual mother-daughter banquet. She wrote a weekly "Did You Ever" column for the Black Hills Press, which detailed many of her childhood and early adulthood escapades. Many of these columns were published in a book by the same name.

Lucille is survived by three sons, Ken (Linda) Murphy, Dennis (Wava) Murphy, and Mike (Sheryl) Homan; 9 grandchildren, Djuana, Lester, Shanna, Jennifer, David, Kevin, Stephanie, Ryan, and Scott.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor John Tesnow officiating.

A memorial has been established in Lucille's name to the Sturgis Public Library.
