Lucy "Fay" Daum, 89, Sturgis, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Visitation was from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis, with Pastor Dennis Reich officiating. Burial follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
A memorial was established to the Sunday Radio Broadcast at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis.
Fay was born Aug. 14, 1916, at Clough, to Martin and Eva (Stuart) Long. She grew up and attended country school in Buffalo County. She continued her education in 1957 through extension classes at Black Hills State.
She married John Christian Daum at Highmore, on Sept. 13, 1933.
She began her working career at Lee's Dimestore in Sturgis. She worked for the Meade County Sheriff's Office for 12 years and at Newberry's in Lead for two years and nearly 10 years at Duane's TV and Appliance in Sturgis before retiring in 1982.
After John's death in 1988, she went back to work for Duane's TV until 2000.
Fay liked to sew and do fancy work. She dabbled in oil paints and liked to do volunteer work.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Modern Woodmen of the World, AARP, Meade County Senior Citizens, Rapid City Society for Geneological Research and the Sturgis Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughters, Violet Stoltz and her husband Kenneth, Rapid City, Joan Bachmeier and her husband Luke, Sturgis, Joy Kimball and her husband Leslie, Hartford, and Caryl Goff and her husband Gene, Sturgis; 13 grandchildren, Bill (Teresa) Bockwoldt, John (Marie) Bachmeier, Marc (Theresa) Bachmeier, Jim (Debbie) Bachmeier, Kristine (Joe) Engelhardt, Kathleen (Scott) Beehler, Chrystal (Bill) Sundermann, Sharis (Sean) Gutman, Shannon Kimball, Jerry (Lori) Casteel Jr., Terry (Michelle) Goff, and Tase Dubbelde; 22 great-grandchildren, Keri, Scott, Lasie, Amber, Joshua, Nathan, Jaime, Jared, Brian, Stephen, Joe, Heidi, Jeremy, Dallas, Dinah, Patrick, James, Jerry John III, Trystin, Sheyenne, Austin, Carli; two great-great-grandchildren, Gracie and Elle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John and three sisters, Ruth, Violet and M'Linda.
