Obituary

Mabel Elma Post, 105, Belle Fourche, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Belle Fourche Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Belle Fourche with Pastor Del Neumeister officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery.

Mabel was born on April 20, 1908, in West Bend, Iowa to Harvey Austin and Ada (Stover) Sloan. She grew up and graduated in West Bend. She went on to graduate from Iowa State Teachers College. While she was in college, she worked at a telephone company as an operator. It was there that she met Guy Post and they started dating. They were married on October 1, 1927, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. They continued to live in Iowa after they were married until 1934, when they moved to Newell. They then moved to Belle Fourche in 1968.

Mabel was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the EZ Stitchers Extension Club.

She loved to play Bingo, and card games such as cribbage and pinochle to keep her mind sharp. She enjoyed helping others and staying active. Her family will remember her as a great mother that was always involved with her family.

Survivors include her son, Austin (Donna) Post of Newell; her daughter, Bobbie (Bill) Clark of Richardson, TX; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Post of Sioux Falls; sisters, Mae Daubendiek of Decorah IA, and Dorothy Butcher of Des Moines, IA; twelve grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mabel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy; son, Gerald; seven sisters, and one brother.

A memorial has been established.
