Madge V. Harrison was born to Claude and Grace Smith in Haakon County, 25 miles north of Philip, SD, on February 14, 1920. She passed away on September 20, 2019, at the age of 99, and will be greatly missed, but Heaven gained a very "Special Angel."
Madge had an interesting life: she married her high school sweetheart, Edgar, became a sheep farmer, moved to Stratford, SD, and worked in a grocery store. She then moved to Aberdeen, where she worked as a bookkeeper for an insurance firm, and then moved to a farm near Mobridge where she helped her father-in-law farm. After that, she moved into town, where she worked as a bookkeeper, then advanced to administrator of the Mobridge hospital and nursing home. After leaving Mobridge, she went to Las Vegas, where she managed a doctor's office and after he closed, went to work for a bank as a bookkeeper. Her final move was to Barstow, CA, where she worked for the school district until retirement. She and Edgar traveled the United States coast to coast, including Alaska, after retiring. She bounced back and forth between South Dakota, California, and Oregon, and finally settled in South Dakota at Holiday Hills until her passing.
Now she is in her final phase of her journey to Heaven, where she will meet her Lord and Savior and all of her loved ones. May God rest her soul.
Madge is survived by two daughters, Karen and Kathe; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dwight; her two husbands, E. Edgar Harrison and Dale Dahl; and three children, Emmons "Eddie" Edgar, III, Baby Sharon, and Keith Richard.
Inurnment will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Rapid City.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Holliday Hills Estates in Rapid City in the chapel.
