Magdalena "Maggie" Ollila was born November 28, 1923 in Tuttle, North Dakota to Daniel and Magdalena (Schremser) Krein. She grew up and attended school in Belle Forche, South Dakota. On June 24, 1941, she married Emil Ollila in Sundance, Wyoming. They moved to Newell, SD and then to Lead, SD where she resided for 25 years. In 1980, she moved to Willow River and in 2002, she moved to Sandstone where she has since resided. Maggie was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery. She was an avid sports enthusiast and loved fishing. She also enjoyed watching western movies, playing cards and putting puzzles together. Maggie passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Pine Medical Center in Sandstone at the age of 86 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; son-in-law, Dwaine Bednar, Sr; her parents and brothers and sisters. She is survived by her only daughter, Anna Bednar of Sandstone; five grandchildren, Dwaine Jr. (Colleen) Bednar of Willow River, Douglas (Brenda) Bednar of Willow River, Patricia (Lee) Eden of Farmington, David Bednar of Willow River and Lisa (Greg) Larson of Sturgeon Lake; 12 great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Joseph, Jillian, Jonathan, Samantha, Jessica and Matthew Bednar; Dirk and Quinn Eden and Aaron and Amanda Larson; sisters, Esther of St. Louis, MO, Alice of Astoria, SD and Lily of Brookings, SD; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Maggie Ollila will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Newell with Mrs. Bobbe Helmerick officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Casketbearers are Maggie's great-grandchildren: Joshua Bednar, Matthew Bednar, Joseph Bednar, Dirk Eden, Jonathan Bednar, Quinn Eden. Honorary casketbearers are Aaron Larson, Amanda Larson, Jennifer Bednar, Samantha Bednar, Jillian Bednar and Jessica Bednar. Interment in Hope Cemetery in Newell, SD.
