August 7, 1929 – July 5, 2017
"Maurine" as she was known, was born August 7, 1929, in Lebanon, SD, to Edward and Kathrine (Breene) Miesen. She attended school in Lebanon, graduating in 1947. She finished her education at the Aberdeen Teachers College. She taught country school west of Seneca until she met Jack Charron when he delivered the mail to her school.
Maurine and Jack were married on February 7, 1950, in Lebanon. They made their home in Seneca, where they raised five children. Together they operated Charron Fuel Company, with Maurine doing the "bookwork."
She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Society. And as part of small town living, was also a member of the Dizzy Dozen Club, the Work & Play Club, the Muffin Mixers and the Coffee Sippers! As the kids grew up, Maurine worked at the Gettysburg Memorial Hospital in the business office. Jack and Maurine moved to Roslyn, SD, where Jack carried mail and they, along with Tom, owned and operated Charron's Steakhouse. Later in retirement, they moved to Sturgis where they were members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Margaret Maurine (Miesen) Charron, 87, of Sturgis, SD, formerly of Seneca, SD, passed away on July 5, 2017, at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center, Sturgis, SD.
Survivors include her children, Steve (Sheila), Huron, Kathy Jeffries (Ron), Rapid City, Jane Bryant (Keith), Sturgis, and Dave (Bonnie), Webster; nine grandchildren, Misty, Molly, Wade, Jackie, Kittrick, Liza, Keith III, Kyle, and Jessica; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Milo, Orange City, IA; and sister-in-law, Florence Miesen, Cannon Falls, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; her sister, Marvel; her brother, Merle; her son, Tom; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Jon.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel starting at 3:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
