Obituary

April 17, 1934 - Nov 2, 2014 RAPID CITY, SD Margaret Ann Laverde passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2014, at the Rapid City Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Oklahoma City to William and Norma (Cole) Earp. Margaret graduated in 1952 as the Salutatorian from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City. Margaret attended Texas Women's College and Oklahoma State University, both on an academic scholarship. She worked for over 27 years at Tinker Air Force Base and retired in 2004. As a devout Christian, a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, and one to never say no to someone in need, she volunteered and helped a multitude of charities, friends, and family members. In 2005, she moved to Portland to be near her son and his family. In 2013, she moved to Rapid City to be near her daughter and her family.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Maria Laverde, of Las Cruces, NM; her son, Bill (Julie) Laverde, of Portland, OR; and her daughter, Luci (Scott) Vincent, of Rapid City, SD; and nine grandchildren.

A celebration of Margaret's life will held this summer.

The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Margaret's honor to Hospice House of Rapid City.
