Margaret was born April 17, 1923, in St. Francis, KS, to Roland and Sarah Jane (Halley) Roberts.

Margaret was married to Dale Maddox for just short of 50 years before his passing in 1991. They lived in St. Francis, KS, Rapid City, SD, Gering, NE, Burlington, CO, and Sturgis, SD, where they purchased the Sturgis Livestock Exchange.

Margaret was a faithful member of the Methodist Church and loved her family, her home, and loved to entertain.

Margaret Ellen Maddox passed away peacefully on December 14, 2015, at Clarkson Health Care Facility in Rapid City, SD.

She is survived by her daughters, Holly (Lyle) Crowser of Rapid City, and Marsha (Chuck) Chamberlain of Bakersfield, CA; son-in-law, Jerry Achenbach, Greeley, CO; 6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Maddox, and their daughter, Susan Achenbach.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Services are scheduled for Friday, December 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Sturgis, SD. Interment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

The family would like to express our grateful appreciation to the staff of Clarkson for their skilled, compassionate, and loving care of our mom.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Clarkson Health Care in Rapid City.
