Margaret Meis, 89, Sturgis, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care Center.
Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Monday with Rosary services beginning at 7 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis with Fr. Arnold Kari officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Margaret was born January 24, 1920 at Levy, Arkansas, to George and Aretta (McDaniel) Winkler.
She married Carl Meis, January 31, 1941 and the couple farmed and ranched in the Bear Butte Valley for many years.
Margaret was a member of the DAV Auxiliary, the Black Hills Hillbillies and the Good Sam Club. She enjoyed camping and the outdoors.
Survivors include son, John Moore, Sioux Falls; grandson, Daniel Carl Moore, Sioux Falls; granddaughter, Erika Lyn Moore, Sioux Falls; also numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established to the Shriner's Hospital Transportation Fund.
