Margerie Lee (Jira) Crowe passed away on August 27, 2016 in Rapid City, SD. Marge was born on April 24, 1943 in Chamberlain, SD, to John and Bessie (Strand) Jira. Marge attended school in Kimball, SD. Marge graduated from Kimball High School in 1961. Following graduation, she received a degree from Mitchell Technical Institute.

Margerie Jira married Sam Crowe at Chamberlain on Sept. 19, 1964. They moved to Long Beach, CA, where they lived from 1965 to 1969. The family moved to Mitchell in 1969 where Marge worked at Dakota Wesleyan. In 1972, the family moved to Sturgis, South Dakota where Marge began her career at Fort Meade working in the dietetics department where she worked for 33 years until her retirement in June 2005.

Marge relocated to Amador County, CA, in July 2005 in order to spend time with her son, Shane Crowe, and granddaughter, Skyler Crowe. Marge lived in both Sturgis and Amador County over the next six years.

Marge enjoyed spending time with her family especially attending her son's athletic events. Marge cherished her time with her grandchildren. Marge enjoyed going on drives to see nature's beauty and loved the beauty of the Black Hills, Yosemite, the California coast, and the Redwoods of California.

Marge is survived by her brother, Marvin Jira (Judy), Plankinton, SD; sons, Shane Crowe (Sarah), Sutter Creek, CA, Devon Crowe, Sturgis, SD, and Corey Crowe, Mitchell, SD; grandchildren, Andi Vondra, Presley Crowe, Skyler Crowe, Madison Crowe, Marisa Crowe, and Sam Crowe; stepmother, Rosemary Jira; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Crowe in 2000; her father, John Jira, Jr., in 1992; her mother, Bessie VanEssen, in 2000; and an infant brother, Maynard.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Open Bible Church in Sturgis. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the youth at the Open Bible Church in Sturgis.
